FN would be an appropriate way to refer to them. That was NOT how Fabrique Nationale was ever known. But he is not correct when he calls them FNH. I'd call this a second gen as it has the grip safety but not the slide-stop-safety. Seems you do a fly-by on a regular basis? I wish you'd chimed back when I posted my comment 11 months ago. I am NOT looking to sell the gun, just looking for some additional info. Also if anyone knows where I can find an original set of grips (besides ) that info would be useful as well. If anyone could give me the approximate value I would appreciate it. When I was up north for deer camp I put 7 rounds through it and it operated flawlessly. I would like to find some original hard rubber FN grips for it with the original screw. There is no pitting but the finish is wearing quite a bit and both grips are missing. The frame, barrel and slide numbers all match. The serial number on my 1906 is 130,#, this would lead me to believe that I have an early model (possibly 2nd year). The middle model or "second gen" 1906 has a slide lock feature, supposedly that design started around serial number 160,000 (not 100% sure about this). I have done some digging and found that they were first marketed in 1906 and sold over 100,000 the first year. About 10 years ago I inherited a FN model 1906.
